When is the World Championship?

Is the Championship open to the public?

Public are welcome to watch all matches at Sydney Polo Club. Tickets can be bought at the entrance gates or online prior to the event. It is a family friendly event and children are welcome.

Where is Sydney Polo Club?

The Sydney Polo Club is located in the Hawkesbury region, more information and a map can be found in our Location section.

How long does the match last?

All preliminary game will be played over five chukkas (lasting approx 75 minutes), with the final played over six chukkas Medium (approx 90 minutes).

What should I wear?

You are encouraged to dress in the colours of the nation that you are supporting. We recommend comfortable shoes for walking on grass. If the weather is inclement please dress accordingly;, we recommend a hat and sunglasses on a hot day and a jacket and gumboots on a wet day.

Will I be able to get anything to eat?

There is a diverse array of dining and takeaway options the general public may purchase from, as well as social bars and family picnic areas and ticketed bars.

Where is the nearest train station?

The nearest train station is Richmond Station, which is 3.5km from the Sydney Polo Club fields.

A High Frequency wheelchair accessible shuttle bus provided by Good Az Gold Tours will run from Richmond Train Station to the event for $5 return

What is the largest group size that can attend?

There is no maximum to number of tickets sold in one transaction.

Where is there local accommodation?

Can I bring food and drink into the event?

Due to licencing restrictions, no alcohol or food can be brought into the event. However there is a huge range of available food and drink available to purchase, including picnic hampers!

Is there an opportunity to volunteer at the event?

Yes there is, and we would love to have you! For more information please see our Volunteer section.

Can I have a stall?

Yes, we will be taking applications for stalls. Please see our Stalls and Exhibitions section.

What countries will be competing?

Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, USA, England, Spain & India. Please come dressed supporting your team with flags, costumes and facepaint.

Do I need a visa to visit Australia?

Unless you are from Australia or New Zealand you will need a visa to visit Australia. For more information please click here.

Is the event accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes it is. There will be a range of facilities. It is suggested to get to the event early to avoid navigating crowds. Please call in advance to assure any specific needs are met.

Can we tailgate at the event?

We love to tailgate at the polo, but due to safety of guests including small children we have decided to limit car access to the event. There is plenty of seating within the various ticket types with good views of the polo so you won’t miss out.
